Anthropic tells staff to work from home over possible security team strike

Anthropic has instructed employees at its San Francisco offices to work from home on Monday and Tuesday due to a potential strike by security workers employed by Allied Universal. The union representing those workers, SEIU, says it hasn't called a strike or issued threats, and is in contract negotiations with Allied. The precautionary move comes amid heightened security concerns in the AI industry and as Anthropic prepares for a possible IPO.

The union said it had not called a strike authorization vote or issued any strike threats for this week.

Oh no, they are going to learn that remote work is just as productive as in person work!

"The union representing those workers said that was news to them."

    Smells like IRL hallucination...

  3. doughnutstracks

At first I read the title as a possible missile strike on Anthropic's office by a hostile actor.

Lol at "On secondary markets, investors have propelled the company to a $1.5 billion valuation."

  5. mawadev

Bold moves and take from a company that values itself at $30T, maybe they should let claude do the security

  6. vintermann

Pretty crazy. The security team denies there ever was a threat of a strike? And generally you do announce strike threats, it's kind of the whole point with strikes that your employer knows of the possibility.

Did Anthropic get "warned" about this strike by its own AI models?

They should just give engineers PDWs and call it a day.

  8. delduca

They are going to work from home? now we will see AGI in next months!
