Wagtail 8.0's new API: CMS with AI, not AI CMS

Wagtail 8.0 introduces a new v3 API, shifting focus from admin UI improvements to automation. The API exposes over 50 admin operations for pages, images, and documents, with typed endpoints, Markdown support, and integration for custom Django models. It's designed for both scripted tasks and AI agents, enabling workflows like bulk SEO fixes or content imports. The API is opt-in and available as a preview, with feedback sought before the 8.1 release.

There won't be any ✨ magic sparkles ✨ AI buttons in your admin unless you decide to install Wagtail AI.

Try wagtail, It's a blast to use. And Torchbox, the team behind it, always seemed to me like a bunch of people that have life figured out.

Django and Wagtail are among the silent heros of "getting stuff done". Appreciate your releases!
