JavaScript's 2026 Update Finally Fixes Dates, Regex, and Async Cleanup

What to Know About JavaScript in 2026

ECMAScript 2025 brings iterator helpers, set methods, RegExp.escape(), Promise.try(), and import attributes. ECMAScript 2026, expected mid-year, adds the Temporal API for sane date handling, explicit resource management with the 'using' keyword, and Array.fromAsync. The author highlights practical wins like importing JSON and CSS directly, while noting pitfalls such as import failures taking down the module graph.

Dates and times in JavaScript are good now, no libraries required.

The appeal of Deno to me was always it's Go-like `std` library, so that building basic apps didn't result in a spaghetti web of dependencies like in Node.
